When you think
when you hear the word courage?
My definition of courage is the ability to have confidence
in everything you look at as fear. You have to be able to overcome fear
mentally, physically, and emotionally.
This semester we are reading this book entitled Rainbow in the Clouds: The Wisdom
and Spirit of Maya Angelou and
the section titled courage is something that I can relate to the most. This
stood out to me because growing up I've always had fear in things that I wanted
to accomplish.
As a future teacher I believe that
courage falls into the category of motivation because people will have courage
from getting motivation from others that they look up to. This is where
encouragement takes place. For example, most of my encouragement comes from my
family and friends. My family is who pushes me to succeed and help with
self-discipline, knowing the benefits and the consequences. My friends give me
encouragement by having ambition to go after and complete lifetime goals. I see
how they are succeeding and this is what encourages me to pursue my goals in
life. I also have courage in myself internally. Personally, I believe that
success is measured by a person's persistence. All it takes to succeed is
persistence. “There is no failure as long as you can learn from your
experience, continue to work, and continue to press for success” As a future
teacher I want to advise students to set goals and work hard to achieve them. I
believe that the true nature of most students is that they like school and want
to learn. I also believe that the school and the teachers greatly influence
them over the course of them being in school.
This is link is about having courage in schools. This is a
program for Administrators, Teachers, and Educators.
What do you think our current culture of school testing does to students' courage?
